During my many journeys across the not-so-vast lands of Runescape, one question has followed me wherever I go. "Hey, Cool xxx, you're one handsome dude, how'd you make all your money?" Usually I'd reply by not replying at all and passing on while leaving the level 15 behind in her Iron Armour. "I take back what I said, you're even hotter than I thought!" is what they would call out as I continued on. But back on topic, I shall explain how I became a multimillionaire (12.5 million or so to be precise) and my tips on getting rich. Here are the basics and I'll explain each point.1. Buy low, sell high- I can't stress this one enough.2. Money will always have the same value, items, however, are forever changing in value...3. INVEST in items.4. Stay updated on all prices.1. Buy low, sell high- Ok first one, this is probably the most important and will make you hundreds of thousands when you have some money to spend. It's a pretty simple concept yet so effective. Example: Buy a Rune Platebody for 60k, sell it for 65k. There's an easy 5k profit there. Second Example: Buy a Red Party Hat for 7 mill, sell it for 7.5 mill. That's a 500k profit... Yet you ask, "Where the hell am I supposed to get 7 mill?" You could try and buy a lot of Rune Plates for 60k and sell them for 65k, but that would take a LONG time. So here I'll get you started. Think of one of the following skills that you'd like to make money from and raise at the same time:WoodcuttingMiningSmithingFishingCookingThese are the main industries in Runescape that are worthwhile. Woodcutting may seem pretty pointless but once you can cut Yew trees...whoooeeee! Yew logs sell for 300 each. By the time you can cut them, you'll have yourself a pretty decent highscore and are set to become a full fledged fletcher (Try saying that one 5 times really fast) if you ever choose to become a member. I added Mining and Smithing separately because it depends on how you want to go about this one. You could just work on Mining and sell the ores to people for some pretty reasonable prices or even better, you could work on 2 skills at once, Mining and Smithing, and sell whatever you make. Currently I am going to make 1400 Steel Plates to get my Smithing to 70. Then I shall use the High Level Alchemy Spell on them, which gives 1200 coins per Steel Plate, do the math and that's 1400 x 1200 which gives you the grand whopping total of (drum roll please)...1,680,000 coins. That's almost 1.7 mill, not a bad profit, eh? The same rules apply to Fishing and Cooking. Some people buy fish raw while others prefer them cooked. I never really relied on those 2 skills as a profit since they are extremely slow ways to go about making money on Runescape2. Go to Karamja, fish lobsters, walk all the way back to Falador, deposit the lobsters, go back to Karamja and repeat. As you can see it isn't exactly the most efficient way of doing things. So you can use these methods until you have enough to buy a holiday item, which I'll explain below.2. Money will always have the same value, items, however, are forever changing in value...- Ok this is one of the key things I did to make money. I bought items, mostly holiday ones, and waited until their price went up to sell them. For example when I took my break from Runescape I had bought a Red Party Hat for 3 million coins previously, when I came back to Runescape, I sold it for 6 million coins. Let's see, the profit that I made would be double what I payed! This is a very effective way of making money once you have saved up. Start small with Santa Hats until you have enough for masks, then just have patience my friend while you sit on your hands and watch your items rise in value.3. INVEST in items.- In a way, this one ties in with the second method, except here you can choose any item that you think has a chance of making it big. The key here is for bigger results, the longer you must wait. So for a Party Hat...If you really wanted to make a profit, buy one and wait for months before selling it. Sure it will take a while, but the results are definitely worth it. Though, there are some risks to this. Take this instance for example, in Runescape Classic, the prices of Party Hats went down considerably when someone found out how to duplicate them. This was the time that I bought my Party Hats, and luckily for me, they weren't duplicates. But if you were owning a Party Hat at that time, you really did suffer because the prices reached an all time low that year. So beware, there are some risks but it will probably never happen again as Runescape has fixed that bug.4. Stay updated on all prices.- Once you do have an expensive item make sure that you stay updated on the price of it. Make it a habit to visit Varrock in World 1 so that you are always on top of the current prices and will not lose money by selling your item for less than what it's worth. There are other ways to make money, and hopefully you will experiment by finding them yourselves. I know that I did and I won't mention them here though because, as a magician always keeps his tricks a secret, so do I. But hopefully you will be able to profit from the knowledge here and use it someday in your real life, as I know I will most indefinitely do so. Feel free to ask questions or post your comments as well as adding more methods of making money as long as they don't conflict with the rules of Runescape.
